with her bossy neighbor than she had hoped。 Miles agrees to pay $150，000 in exchange for 3 months of consulting fees on a project near and dear to him。 He hires Jenn as a marketing consultant to to sell Bee Harbor Inn。 There seems to be a catch， though， since the money will actually enable Jenn to pay for the repairs and reopen for business instead of giving up on her dream as she had feared。Miles and Jenn have insane chemistry， so it doesn’t take long before their hatred turns to passion。 But Cromwell-Narada has a strict non-fraternization policy， so a workplace romance is Pinnacle Point is a quiet community and is dependent upon tourism for its survival。 Miles made a home for himself there years ago and has no intention of leaving。 His parents spent a great deal of time on the island， too， and these days， those memories are precious。 Miles struggles with forgiving himself for how things played out， but he cannot seem to get past it。 He finds painting to be therapeutic， and he spends much time in front of the canvas。 But once the redheaded beauty moves in next door， the landscapes no longer satisfy him。 Meanwhile， Jenn struggles with her attraction to Miles。 She knows how badly he wants to buy her property， so she questions his intentions。 Things eventually get personal between them， yet there is still so much that separates the couple。There are a few issues that merit mention。 *Spoilers* First， Jenn has the opportunity but fails to grab a change of clothes one evening， then she shows up at work in the same clothes the next day。 That is tacky enough， but given the no fraternization rule， it is careless。 Second， that no fraternization rule seems to fizzle。 Miles is careless with it， and even if there is some grey area， it is questionable。 Nothing ever comes of it， though。 Third， Jenn really outs her relationship with Miles when she shows up at the office making demands。 She oversteps。 Honestly， it was entirely unprofessional in addition to making her relationship with Miles obvious。 Not only was it disrespectful to Miles， she was also disrespectful to his assistant， Louise， by putting her in an untenable situation and risking her own job。 I didn’t like it。 She showed up for personal reasons， and they should have been kept separate from work。 Miles had every reason to push her away given her uncalled-for intrusion。 After the fact， though， the focus is on his action， not her own。 Fourth， Louise threatens to call security one minute then the next shares confidential information。 It didn’t feel authentic。 Fifth， there is a reference to sunset that clearly should be sunrise， causing some confusion and double-checking。 Sixth， it felt overly dramatic for Miles to deny his past relationship with Simone。 There was no reason for it。 And the scene where he pushes Jenn away feels over the top and unnecessary as well – particularly since he makes to effort to make amends at the end of the day。 Certainly， both advance the plot， but it is weak。 Seventh， Miles makes a call that was would have been very ill-advised legally， but he only seems to understand that later in the story。 For a CEO， his action is surprising。 Eighth， the PI’s are a joke。 It is hard to buy into the fact that they have done so poorly。 Ninth， I could hardly believe it when I read that Miles destroyed certain paintings。 I couldn’t see his character doing that。 Finally， Jenn really goes overboard in the end with all her rejections。 I would have expected her to have a real conversation at the least。 I felt that she came down way too hard on Miles， given all that he was up against and her own poor judgment in Seattle。Miles and Jenn’s story has it all – a cranky billionaire boss， a feisty heroine， plenty of steamy chemistry， and a mountain of trouble。 Jenn inherits Bee Harbor Inn on a quiet island community， but she doesn’t care for the presumptuous man who lives next door。 Miles’s dark past catches up to him， threatening to sweep Jenn up in his problems。 Animal lovers will fall in love with Cookies and Cream – the two adorable Doberman Pinschers that Jenn inherited from her Grandmother， Lottie。 The story is nicely written。 It took me a while to get into this story， though。 It wasn’t the characters。 The story is not quite as tightly woven as other books by the author; there are some weak points。 Still， it is a must-read for fans。 Here， Piper’s bestie Jenn gets her own HEA with a growly Seattle billionaire。 The characters are real and complex。 They are written in first person。 The POV alternates between
